Digital Photography

Area of Study: DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Session 2: July 8 – July 20, 2012
Grades: 6-12

The Digital Photography class features instruction in composition, exposure techniques, black and white printing, color slide exposure, and photograms. Daily shooting assignments are followed by classroom computer work and group critiques.

Advanced photography students learn the rudiments of digital image manipulation and printing using Macintosh computers, the latest Adobe Photoshop software, and Epson 1270 color inkjet printers.

Photography students exhibit their work in a Gallery show and produce a ten minute slide show that opens the final performance on the last night of the session.

Each student must bring his/her own digital camera. For specific camera model recommendations or the camera requirements list, please contact the YMA Office.

THE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS IS LIMITED TO FIFTEEN STUDENTS.

YMA: Young Musicians & Artists is not a traditional teen summer camp. YMA is a 2 week residential summer camp for teens and young adults focusing on the visual and performing arts. Young Musicians & Artists is an Oregon summer camp specializing in the areas of: Band, Choir, Songwriting and Composition, Creative Writing, Dance, Theater, Musical Theater, Orchestra, Digital Photography, Piano and Visual Arts. During the two week summer programs, these subjects are taught by professional instructors from around the region. Students join YMA's summer camps for professional instruction, teen leadership training and a residential camp experience. YMA is Oregon's premier residential arts program and has been since 1965.
