Area of Study: COMPOSITION
Session 1: June 24 – July 6, 2012
Grades: 6 – 12
Composition is open to any student, grade six through twelve, who has composition experience and is able to play piano at an intermediate level or above. Students work in a positive and nurturing environment that focuses on improving technical skills, interpretation, and musical ability. Composition students must play piano and know how to read music. They will also audition on opening day, to show the instructor an example of a previously composed work and their current level of ability on the piano. During the session, there will be opportunities for the students to perform their own pieces or have other musicians play their work. At the conclusion of the session, composition students will go home with a recorded music CD of their work.
